We are deeply saddened to acknowledge the passing of Max Simmons (Class of 1955) on 25 March 2025 at the age of 87.
In 2022, during an interview with the School, Max shared some cherished and fun memories that truly highlighted Max’s vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
Max fondly remembered how Mentone Grammar became not just his school but his home, thanks to his mother’s job as a resident assistant nurse and the bonds he forged with his classmates.
He spoke warmly of the Principal, J.J. Thorold, who presented him with a School cap and pendant, marking the beginning of his deep connection with the Mentone community.
Max’s reflections on his time at Mentone Grammar, the influential teachers, and the life lessons he learned there, paint a vivid picture of a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
