AFL Recruit – Josh Lai (Class of 2023)

A massive congratulations to Josh Lai (Class of 2023) for securing a spot on Port Adelaide’s AFL playing list as part of the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP)!

After being invited to train with the Power over the summer, Josh’s SSP rookie spot was confirmed on Tuesday 18 February 2025.

His rise from local footy at Cheltenham in 2024 to the AFL has been nothing short of remarkable, with his athletic traits and composure impressing the Power’s recruiters.

Josh’s best-on-ground display during Cheltenham’s premiership win last September showcased his ability to perform on the big stage. Coincidentally, his twin brother and fellow Mentonian, Sean, was also a key member of that Cheltenham premiership team.
